ES admits untruths in court
The Southland Times reports that an Environment Southland compliance officer has effectively acknowledged under cross examination in court that the council’s original written case against a farm owner and manager it was prosecuting contained statements that were not true.
The officer, Chris McMillan, is also the officer accused of altering a police statement in an earlier case involving effluent allegedly leaking from a stock truck. The charges in that case were withdrawn by Environment Southland after the court was informed that the statement…
